Environmentally-Friendly Engines Revving

A new vehicle is beginning to catch the eye of millions of sports car and technology fans worldwide: the Tesla Roadster. This innovative automobile is manufactured by the Californian Tesla Motors, a company changing the way electric vehicles are seen.
Tesla Motors overturns all the clichés regarding electric cars, which up until now labelled them as vehicles only suited to town use, with limited performance and restricted range. Instead, the new Tesla offers a performance even the best sports cars would be proud of. An example? Amazing acceleration: from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 4 seconds – worthy of cars such as the Ferrari 612 Scaglietti (0-100 km/h in 4.2 seconds), the Corvette C6 (0-100 in 4.4 seconds) and the Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder (0-100 in 4.3 seconds).

The secret of such a thrilling performance resides in the development work carried out with Lotus and in the carbon fibre bodywork. This enables the three-phase asynchronous electric motor to be exploited to the full, while the adjustable automatic transmission enhances performance through its five different functions designed so that the car may be used in any context, according to the driveršs requirements. Another peculiarity is the excellent range provided by the lithium-ion batteries, which cover a distance of roughly 354 km – a range never before offered by any other electric vehicle.
All with the unquestionable advantages for the environment, both in terms of cutting sound pollution and harmful emissions. Then there is the option to further reduce environmental impact by drawing the energy to recharge the car (in a mere three and a half hours) from solar panels fitted on the roof of your own home, thus combining features that until recently seemed impossible to pair together: ecology and performance, sustainability and style.
