Huf Haus embraces nature

A leader in the construction of luxury villas, this group is known to many as the Rolls Royce of prefabricated homes. Established in Frankfurt in 1912, today it may count over 10,000 customers Europe-wide. ³Building is a concept that is closely connected to emotions,² asserted George Huf, the Huf Haus founder. And this principle still underpins the imagination of todayıs architects, which manifests itself in all-white solid wood structures and large expanses of glass. The feeling of spaciousness and transparency may also be perceived inside, where the kitchen, dining room and sitting room run through into each other without the hindrance of doors or walls; the furnishings are likewise marked by minimalism. The huge glass expanses allow nature to come into the home and the home to fit perfectly with its surrounding nature, so that the changing seasons always stir emotions, bringing different effects depending on the hour of the day.
Nevertheless, Huf Haus does not overlook technology, such as in the form of the innovative air-economy heating system – an adjustable ventilation system ensuring a pleasant temperature in all areas – or Instabus, a centralised system controlling the heating, lighting and blinds. And of course there is also respect for the environment: the Huf houses are made with eco compatible materials and using avant-garde electricity productio solutions.
Some 19 show-houses may be visited; the one nearest to Como is located in Lugano-Carabbia, in Canton Ticino. The fact that these are pre-fabricated houses does not mean that they are all the same. In fact, Huf Haus allows customers to specify their own home – assisted by a team of experts – right down to the smallest details, making it special and unique. This also avoids the bother of having to contact twenty or so different firms, since the one company handles every single aspect. And the cost is not prohibitive, if compared to that of building of a traditional villa.
